Jamie O'Neal (born Jamie Murphy on June 3, 1968, in Sydney, Australia) is a contemporary country singer and songwriter who has had success in the United States. Her parents, Jimmy and Julie Murphy, were also professional musicians. In the early part of her career she was a backing singer in her native Australia, appearing on Kylie Minogue's Enjoy Yourself Tour of Australia, UK, Europe and Far East Asia in 1990. The rejoined Kylie on tour in 1991 for the Rhythm Of Love Tour (Australia and Far East Asia) and the Let's Get To It Tour of the UK and Ireland.

O'Neal signed to Mercury Nashville Records in the early 2000s. By 2001, she reached Number One on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts with "There Is No Arizona" and "When I Think About Angels", the first two singles from her gold-certified debut album Shiver, issued in 2001. Also released from this album were the title track (#21 on Hot Country Songs), "I'm Not Gonna Do Anything Without You" (a duet with Mark Wills) at #31, and "Frantic" at #41.

O'Neal was awarded Top New Country Artist by Billboard, Top New Female Vocalist by the Academy of Country Music. Her compositions have been recorded by other successful artists, including LeAnn Rimes, CeCe Winans, Chely Wright, Tammy Cochran, and Martina McBride. A second album for Mercury, 2003's On My Way to You was recorded but not released, although one of its singles charted.

In 2004, she transferred to Capitol Records Nashville, releasing the album Brave in early 2005. This album produced three more chart singles for her, including the #3 hit "Somebody's Hero". O'Neal left Capitol in 2007 after releasing one more single, "God Don't Make Mistakes", which failed to reach Top 40.

O'Neal signed in 2008 to the 1720 Entertainment label.
